When all is quiet...........

Sunset over our back fence..........

The night time routine is nearly done, little eyes are tired, close to slumber and sweet dreams.

Before windows and doors are closed for the night I wander round the house and garden, packing away toys and making sure animals are safe for the night.

Another busy day is at an end. Tonight clean sheets are calling, but can wait as this is the time of evening that I like to potter, watch a movie, read and write blog posts, drink tea, eat chocolate, sew, chat to Mr H without interruption about our day and occasionally fold the washing.

I will go to bed too late and say this as I finally lay down for the night and when I wake a little bleary eyed in the morning I will be thinking "I really should go to bed earlier" but know the same thing will happen again that night.

Are you a night owl?

What do you like to do when the house is quiet? - keep it PG please! xo

  1. Slack parents here and no-one ever in bed before 9pm....teenagers even worse. I fall asleep long before them.
I never watch tv bar 1-2-3 shows a week (Downton, the house design guy, Kirstie Alley and the other guy selling real estate - see i watch so little I do not even know what programmes are called!) and will usaully be knitting, sewing, stitiching, writing letters, blogging, gardening, doing laundry, writing letters, doing uni work and drinking tea too!

  2. Beautiful photos. I am quite lazy in the evening, I sit down around 8pm and started fiddling with something, I bead embroider - current whim, or draw or have a long soak in the bath and read. I have older kids so they do their own thing, hubby has started having evenings at home now so we have a nice gin and tonic and do nothing :)

  3. I'm a lark....give me an hour before everyone wakes anytime, especially in the spring, listening to the birds and in the summer i can be found in the garden sipping coffee enjoying the early sun! Lovely images :) x

  4. Spectacular! I took a photo of the sunrise this morning, i'm yet to post about it.
Yes, I'm defiantly a night owl…for sanity's sake. I adore my babes but i also adore the time without them at night! I usually blog, watch tele with hubby, or these days sadly I study.
A lady I exhibited with a few weeks ago showed me a few simple crochet stitches, so i hope to take that up very soon! xxx

  8. So glad I landed here - you write really well and it was a joy to read your post. I am a night-owl and get so much done in the late evening. I do stay in bed too long in the mornings though and envy those people who tell of pottering round their garden at dawn - what?! Dawn?

  11. No late nights here, even before the little babe was born I would go to bed by 9pm. A lot of nights sound like yours - fold the laundry while the tea is heating, then settle down for some blog land time. Not enough time to watch a movie though, since the little babe might wake up at any time.

  13. Yep...I'm a night owl too...and then I need match sticks the next day to hold my eye lids up!!!!!!! I spend way too much time at the computer when my babes are in bed for the night - which obviously affects my sleepiness!! Your photos have been so lovely lately - clever cookie!

  16. Your evenings sound a lot like mine, although it's colder here right now. But yes, the evenings have always been precious to me for that "grown-up" time for a glass of wine and a chat, and bit of good tv too. Beautiful photos by the way! x

  17. I love these pictures and yes, same for me! I love that quiet as a day closes and always stay up later than I should. I love that last 'yellow' light of the day. Delicious! Thanks for writing. Lisa
